About

I am a former flight attendant, avid traveler and backyard adventuress who lives for a good laugh, and am hopelessly drawn to people with a little twinkle in their eye.  I live in the Atlanta area with a sweet good sport of a  husband, two teenagers and a couple of wacky dogs, and my goal is to squeeze a little more out of each day and share a bit of the good parts.

    • Your comment made my day! I am a fan of “Happy Spaces Project” and was planning on participating. I just need a moment to reflect on the space that makes me feel happiest, better yet, recreating the little oasis that brings the most peace.

Thank you again for contacting me. I’m looking forward making a thoughtful contribution.

p.s. I’ve been wanting to go to Rome and your pictures are tiding me over.

    • Thank you so very much for reading and enjoying my blog! Currently I’m trying to explore some fun areas that are practically right outside my front door. I forget that you don’t always have to hop on a plane to find an interesting destination. I hope all of your travel dreams come true!!

  6. Elisa, thanks for liking my post on Eugène Atget. I’m happy to discover your blog, as well.

I am also in the ATL area.

  9. Elisa: I wanted to compliment you on your great post on Segovia, Spain, but can’t find it again, so I’ll do that here. (I live near Madrid.) I also enjoyed every one of your other posts that I read. You are a great photographer! Thanks, too, for following The Best Artists. I hope you can get to Toledo some day, and Salamanca, and Burgos, and Seville, and Cordoba and… Un saludo de 100swallows

  10. Hi 100 Swallows! I think you have the wrong blogger….I have never been to Segovia, Spain, but I would love to go! I hope you find the right blogger…

    Take care,

    elisa

  11. Oops! Sorry. I hope you will still accept the compliment on your own posts (like the one on Florence) and on the great photography. And that you do make it to Spain. Un saludo.

    • Thank you! I miss those flight attendant days, but I was lucky to be able to stay home and raise our two children (now grown.) It became too difficult to roll my bag to the car as they waved goodbye at the window.
      :)

  12. Hello, Elisa. We were both tagged by RestlessJo to join a photo challenge, and I just discovered that you also live in Metro Atlanta. Small WordPress World!

    • Thank you so very much for passing this award on to me. It is especially meaningful coming from someone who is so, well, inspiring! I love your blog and admire your many layers of knowledge of all things written; you really do inspire me each and every time I read one of your well researched and readable posts. Congratulations on being newly married, AND for having such tiny feet – mine would look like clodhoppers next to yours.

      Take care and thanks again!

      Elisa

      • Oh, you are too kind! Your compliments mean a lot; it’s incredibly heartening to know that my passion for language is understood and appreciated. I love your blog, too. Each post puts a smile on my face and makes my day a bit brighter.

      • Oh, and thank you-being a newlywed is pretty amazing. As for those tiny feet, they just fit the rest of the package: I’m a little bit (only 5’0). Naturally, I married a 6’1 gentleman. :)

    • I am very pleased and humbled to be nominated by you! Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to checking out your blog, always fun to meet someone new!
      :)

      Elisa

    • Cara! Your kind words mean so much to me. Thanks a million for the nomination….and congratulations on your many awards, all well deserved!

      Elisa

  13. Elisa, would you try to trick an old woman, huh? I like the new title and the new look! I am handing out the One Lovely Blog award to everybody whose blog I really think is lovely. Yours is. And so are you, my dear child! You don’t have to do a thing about it. I just wanted to link to you and tell you how much I enjoy you and your blog. :-) Thanks for everything, elisa!

    • Well you sure know how to make a girl’s day! I am thrilled to know you, George, and beyond happy that you’ve been enjoying my quirky blog. Thank you, thank you!!

      Elisa

  14. Hello Elisa,

Thank you for following my blog. I hope your visits in my blog do not bring disappointment but instead have been and will always be an enjoyable experience! :-)
You write good stuff up here, so keep penning and keep inspiring! :-)

    • You are so welcome, and thank YOU for being so kind to stop by and comment. Your blog looks interesting and is very good looking. I’m looking forward to reading it!

      Elisa

  15. The first pictures were fascinating – I have never been to rural Georgia yet the pictures make it almost familiar to me – its a nice feeling. The close ups are magnificent and the sunflower wonderful! Thanks for the intros to each set of pictures too.

  16. Great picture Elisa. You seem very interested in the spiral. Do you have any thoughts on why we see this pattern in Nature?

    • Thanks for commenting on my picture. I know the spiral is related to the golden ratio, but frankly I’m attracted to many things of beauty (both inside and out) but maybe that is one and the same.

  18. Loved the photo of the shell that somehow caught my attention and I’m glad it did… enjoyed what I’ve seen here and am going to follow your blog… so don’t take too many breaks…

  19. Hi Elisa, thanks for visiting and liking my ‘circus’ posting. On another note.. there was a time in my life when I want to be a flight attendant.. lol.

  20. Thanks for dropping by my blog!

…and it just so happens that I like your blog too. How you see the world through your camera lens is beautiful and I look forward to seeing your future posts.

  21. Thanks so much for for stopping by my blog and liking “The Swan”. I love your blog! So glad your visit brought me to it.
    Please stop by again soon!

  22. Your photographs are beautiful!! I am taking a photography course right now and learning how to use my manual settings!! Your photos are an inspiration!

    • Thank you so much! To be honest, my manual settings are sort of a mystery to me. I use them, but I don’t fully understand what the mean. Crazy. I hope you enjoy your class!!

      Elisa
      :)

  23. Wow, I am even more impressed that you are using the settings without much knowledge of them. I must say, my camera can do a pretty good job on automatic without me! It has been a big learning curve to figure out the settings….practice, practice!! I feel now after several weeks that I am starting to get the hang of it.

  24. Hi. I really enjoy your blog: it’s a cool place to come back to, so I have nominated you for a One Lovely Blog Award.
I totally understand if you don’t want to follow all the stuff involved, but thought you would like to know anyway. No further action is necessary or expected. ;)

  25. Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for the “like” on my post, “Droplets”. I am so happy that you enjoyed it.

Your photographs are amazing! I’m thrilled to have found your blog, and I’m looking forward to many more happy hours perusing the different entries. Thanks for sharing little bits of your world!

  26. Thank you ever so much for visiting and following the World according to Dina. I’m looking forward to following you into the future and seeing more of your fine work. I love the way you present your photographs combined with a little story, you’re high up on my list of excellent rolemodel blogs. Have a lovely day, enjoy.
    Best regards,
    Dina, from the Far North

    • Thank you, Dina, your comment made my day. I do love to take pictures and share my experiences, but I’m not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, so I truly appreciate the encouragement.

I love your blog, and I’m looking forward to experiencing more beauty “from the Far North.”

      Elisa

    • Thank you, thank you, and thank you! In addition to enjoying the occasional Margarita, I am a slave to wine, especially red. I’m looking forward to checking out your site.

      Cheers!

    • Hi Paula! Thanks for giving me the heads up about the photo contest, and thank you for linking to my blog!! I will check it all out and see if I have anything worthy!

      Have a great week,

      Elisa

  27. You have a great blog! Great pics and simple stories. Finding other interesting, visually stunning blogs was one of the unexpected benefits of writing my own. I always check out everyone’s blog who’s ‘liked’ or commented on mine and have found some great ones I’d have never found otherwise.

  28. Thanks for visiting! Enjoyed reading your blog. Atlanta aye, every time I drive through there heading to Florida, the traffic is nuts! But the city itself looks beautiful. And the weather too :)

    • Yes, traffic can be insane, and you never know what you’re going to get when you drive through the city. It’s a wonderful place though, and you’re right, the weather is great in that the warmer seasons tend to be longer than the northeast.

  29. Thank you for the ‘like’ on my Bucket List- I hope one day I’ll do as much travelling as you appeared to have. You’re obviously incredibly talented, I adore the ‘secret garden’ selection of photos. X

    • Thank you, your blog is wonderful. I like have you’ve incorporated history into your design blog, it’s both interesting and visually appealing. And I like your style!

      Elisa

  30. Hi Elisa,
So nice to ‘meet’ you -I’ve enjoyed browsing your blog. Your comment about enjoying people with a twinkle in their eye made me laugh! ;-)
    I loved that little nugget!
Your photos are a fun addition to the writing, and you’ve inspired me to add a few more to my own blog.
    Thanks!

  31. Hi Elisa! I don’t know if you have seen it but I publish a digital magazine version of my blog Junsjazz Images & Inspiration of which five issues are already online. Its not a commercial magazine, just another online project of mine, an offshoot of my blogging. I plan to release the latest issue by end of February and I’d like to devote a spread for a guest photographer to showcase his/her works (probably 5 to 6 images). Some 12 photo bloggers have already been featured in the past three issues. I would be honored to have your amazing works presented in Issue #6, if it is alright with you. Of course there will be backlinks to your blog and full credit to you for all your works that may appear in the magazine. Here’s the link to my digital magazines: http://junsjazzimages.wordpress.com/digital-magazine/ I await your reply. Thanks!

    • Hi, I am honored that you would think of me for your publication. And yes, I’ve seen Junsjazz Images & Inspiration and am a fan! I’m on board, just let me know what I need to do.

      Thank you!!

      Elisa

      • Thanks Elisa for the green light! I wouldn’t bother you with anything, but if its not too much to ask can I request a short write-up (4 to 5 sentences) from you – something about yourself, your career background, how you started in photography, what you look out for when taking photos – info like those. Would appreciate if you can send me the write-up at jazzmanjun@gmail.com As for the pictures, trust me to pick out 5 to 6 of your best photos in your blog. I think that’s about it. By the way, for Issue #6 you’ll be featured with five other photo bloggers, all women, each with her own magazine spread. Welcome aboard! Thanks again and best regards!

        • Your very welcome, I’m happy to make a contribution. Will Monday be an acceptable deadline for the write-up? I’m heading to the West Coast with my daughter tomorrow through the weekend. I’ll have some down time during my trip and should be able to pull something together by then.

Take care, and thank you again for considering me for your magazine!
          Elisa

          • Oh no hurry Elisa. Please take your time. Anytime next week will be fine. Actually your magazine spread has already been laid-out and I was able to use 8 of your photos. It looks fantastic! (I’m teasing you here) But I know you’ll be more than pleased with the outcome. I’ll just wait for the write-up and your feature is already done with. Thanks again! p.s. I was able to go through the whole photos in your blog and gosh you’ve got lots of remarkable images. I’m impressed. Of course I got some of the best of them for the magazine. :-)

          • Hi Elisa! Just following up on that write-up of yours for the magazine. Sorry for the bother. Again here’s my email – jazzmanjun@gmail,com Have an happy weekend! ~JJ

          • I must have sent it the wrong email address, I will re-send. Its short and sweet, I don’t do well talking about myself!!

Sorry for the confusion. I’ll resend right away!
            Elisa

    • Well, you did the near impossible. Rendered me speechless! You comment is generous and kind, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget that you took the time to write it.

      Thank you,

      Elisa

  32. Just exploring your blog =) Thanks for your “like” on my post! Just read in your about section that you also worked as a flight attendant (like I do =) I bet you had many beautiful experiences as well!?

    • Hi there, thanks for stopping by. Yes those flight attendant days were both beautiful and beautifully challenging! I left after our second child was born because it became more and more difficult to leave them for days at a time. I do have some great memories, though.

  33. Dear Elisa,
What a pleasure to be here this bright and glorious morning! And I sure am very glad to meet someone who is hopelessly drawn to people with a little twinkle in their eye! With many warm hugs, Sharon

      Elisa

  35. Thank you for visiting my blog and liking my Photo Challenge post titled Ms. Eva. I enjoyed looking at your photographs and look forward to seeing more.

    • You are so welcome. Our daughter is a senior in high school and my life has been consumed with graduation and future college plans. Once all the dust settles I hope to catch up with lots of blog reading, especially yours. Will the dust ever settle?

  36. Elisa, have you been to Old Car City? (60 miles north of Atlanta) Mike Moats just held a workshop there recently. Here are some of the photos from the place: http://tinyurl.com/cn536bj He has posted lots of photos from there in past posts. There are six miles of cars scattered among wooded areas, etc. I thought of you when I read about the workshop. Mike posts lots of editing videos as well as the ones on his posts. :-)
